The in-house marine biology team carries out their research on the manta rays as well as clams, coral, and fish species present in the Marine Protected Area surrounding the island. FUEL SURCHARGE IN EFFECT – UPDATED MONDAY 1ST OF JANUARY 2024

South Sea Cruises currently has a fuel surcharge to take effect for customers travelling with us on a resort transfer as well as applicable day trips. 

South Sea Cruises also notes that since setting the 2023/24 transfer rates, the Fiji Government has removed the 10c per litre duty concession which South Sea Cruises had factored into our rates at the time of issue and has now had to absorb. 

The applicable fuel surcharges in effect for travel as of Friday, 1st December 2023 are as follows:

  • Awesome Adventures Fiji Package or Pass customers – $15 per person. 
  • Resort Transfer only customers travelling to/from all Yasawa Island Resorts (including Vomo) – $15 per adult/$7.50 per child (2-15 years only) for each one-way sector. 

All fuel surcharges stated are in FJD and include applicable taxes.

This advisory issued is further to the information provided at 7.30am this morning. The early effects of Tropical Cyclone Vaianu are now being felt within the Mamanuca & Yasawa Islands with strong winds and rough seas expected to only increase over the next 24-48 hours. South Sea Cruises Group (SSCG) can also now advise that Port Denarau is under a mandatory evacuation notice and as at 7.30am tomorrow morning, all SSCG vessels will no longer be in port, but rather in their cyclone holes until the evacuation notice is lifted. Given the current situation, SSCG is advising all hotels, resorts, customers and industry partners of the following:

Tuesday 7th of April 2026:

Resort Transfers & Day Trips across both the Mamanuca & Yasawa Islands remain suspended as per earlier advice.

Wednesday 8th of April 2026:

Resort Transfers & Day Trips across both the Mamanuca & Yasawa Islands are now suspended. Customers impacted by the suspension of Resort Transfers and/or Day Trips during the above-mentioned period can defer their travel to another day or if they are unable to defer travel they can cancel without penalty. Please be patient as the Reservations team will be operating with limited staff due to Tropical Cyclone Vaianu.

The next advisory pertaining to SSCG products & services to operate on Thursday 9th of April 2026 will be issued after a review of the weather conditions scheduled to occur prior to 9.00am on Wednesday morning. Please note that some weather-related disruptions are likely to continue through Thursday 9th of April 2026.
